The F.I.T. Hive main community space is the hub where all content + documented discussions happen.
This includes the Learning area, Resources, Events, Bee Finder (Directory) + various Channels for different discussion topics.
NOTE: Based on the type of Bee (membership) you are, you will be restricted access to certain areas or products.

Imagine you meet someone you want to get to know better or have a technical discussion with and you want to sit in a cool virtual space - well your community offers this as well with 12 different rooms at the moment to choose from!
The F.I.T. Hive has a separate section of the hive with different rooms for bees to come and use 24-hours a day 7 days a week to freely buzz around in. Below shows some examples of these rooms. A circle is a seat you can come and sit in. If a room is full you cannot enter.

This means that what is shown above is just the start --- if there is a need to add something that has a lot of requests for we will consider adding another discussion channel or another virtual room or a learning course that is needed, so we can expand.

Who Created The F.I.T. Hive

When you are passionate about what you have learnt over 3 decades (showing my age here😲) and you have a need to share that knowledge, you see an opportunity. The F.I.T. Hive was created to fill that need and at the same time bring together a community of like-minded Fashion Industry Technicians. My hope is you all get something out of the F.I.T Hive = learning, talking, sharing and most of all connections.

SHORT VERSION OF MY INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE:
Started working in the fashion industry when it was mainly Australian-Made---exposed to the local production process and the transition to off-shore and the pit-falls that created
Operated a pattern-making service business for 5-years from the Lectra Sydney office + was the Lectra trainer at the time---exposed to a variety product types, from men's Wonderjock's to dog coats. This also made me aware of the issues when offering this type of service, we as technicians need to be careful of... I was burnt by my 1st client. You also need to be careful of burn-out when you are charging time for $ + working with start-ups who don't know what is involved.
Had to get my head around the fact that my role as a CAD Patternmaker was transitioning to a Technical Designer/Garment Technician and that I had less control over the pattern and the fit.
Had lots of opportunities to do freelance work for different fashion brands which exposed me to a lot of different ways of how they worked technically.
Worked with a fashion brand that was doing sublimated-printing within the CAD pattern shape + developed my own unique sublimated dress to present this method at a trade show = very cool 😎
Weird opportunity to create a pattern for the World's Biggest pair of undies listed in The Guinness Book Of Records > had to scale up the CAD pattern in proportion from the original size to make it a valid entry + splice the pattern based on the fabric width > it was made at a sailmakers to sew it together (Great marketing but wasteful! Another brand has this honour now...)🤣
Came across CLO 3D very early on and just learnt when I had time---I have done some projects with it but I am not on it every day, which you really need to be these days to keep up with the updates.
Worked on all Human Forms = Kidswear + Menswear + Womenswear including Maternity + Plus-Sizes
Worked on these Product Types = Outerwear, Workwear(Suiting), Active/Stretchwear, Sleepwear, Swimwear, Underwear including Bras.
Skills: CAD Patternmaking, Grading, Marker-making, Technical Manuals, Illustrator, Lectra, CLO
Passionate about Body Measurements + Garment Fit + Streamlining Fashion Industry Technician processes. All this will be showcased in one of the 9-steps in the F.I.T. Hive PREMIUM PROGRAM = Fashion Fit Kit. What I have developed in this program could be a game-charger for the fashion industry in simplifying spec sheet creation.
Enjoy teaching others and sharing my knowledge, which is one of the reasons the F.I.T. Hive was created. I even got my Training Certificate here in Australia. Why teach in one room when I can share it with the world! I had the privilege teaching a deaf work colleague (lip-reading was our mode of communication) how to use Lectra before work hours and it got me hooked on how good I felt that I could impact someone's skill set.

THE 9-STEP FASHION FIT KIT PREMIUM PROGRAM (FUTURE RELEASE) IS THE F.I.T. HIVE'S SIGNATURE SYSTEM INCLUDED IN A ROYAL BEE'S MEMBERSHIP

Who can join the F.I.T. Hive?
Anyone involved in the fashion industry’s technical side—be it students, educators, or professionals like pattern engineers, garment technologists and product developers—is welcome to join.
Not recommended for home sewers + hobbyists.

Is there a code of conduct?
Yes - we uphold a respectful and inclusive environment. Members are expected to agree to the F.I.T. Hive Code of Conduct when joining the community and communicate professionally + supportively.
💳 Payment & Subscription
Is there a membership fee?
Yes - the F.I.T. Hive operates on a subscription model to support the platform and its offerings. Details on pricing can be found on this page.
What payment methods are accepted?
We use Stripe, so we accept major credit cards.
Can I change my subscription plan?
Absolutely. You can upgrade or downgrade the type of bee you are through your account settings.
Are there other fees?
BUMBLE BEE - Yes - If you want access to the ADVANCED + PREMIUM Learning or another instructors learning. If you want access to the ADVANCED Learning, you will need to upgrade to be a Honey Bee.
HONEY BEE - Yes - If you want access to the PREMIUM Learning or another instructors learning.
The PREMIUM Learnings are not in the BUMBLE + HONEY BEE membership. To access the PREMIUM Learning or another instructors learning you will need to pay one-off payments to gain LIFETIME access to these premium learnings.
What is the cancellation policy?
Bumble + Honey Bees (members) can cancel their membership at any time in their account. Access will remain active until the end of the current billing cycle. Suggest doing it 3 days prior to your billing cycle ending just to make sure you don't miss it.
You will lose access to anything linked to your subscription. If you have purchased one-time products in the Hive, then you will still be able to access them.
Royal Bees (members) cannot cancel their LIFETIME membership after 14 days from payment.
